Mailchimp Now Offers Full Marketing Platform, Aimed at Small Businesses

Mailchimp announced the launch of its new all-in-one marketing platform on May 13.

This. Is. Huge.

I’ve always been a big fan of Mailchimp and have recommended its email services many times in the past to clients who can’t quite afford investing in HubSpot.

But the biggest caveat I would caution was that Mailchimp wasn’t a one-stop shop. Meaning, it was not a robust enough platform to truly manage all of the various aspects of your marketing.

With the announcement of its new marketing platform, though, that could all be changing.

Who Is the Mailchimp Marketing Platform Meant For?

Mailchimp CEO Ben Chestnut said:

“[We] created Mailchimp for the love of small business. And over the past 18 years, we’ve always thought about what kinds of tools and services would have helped our families grow their businesses and weather the competition.”

He went on to say “Our customers have been asking for years for us to build something that would enable them to do all of their marketing in one place.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs don’t have time to manage three, four, or five different platforms that each serve one specific purpose, and they don’t want their data all over the place: They need a tool powered by data and expertise that will help them know where to invest their marketing dollars.”

The Mailchimp CEO and Co-founder listened to their users' biggest pain points and sought to solve for them. So with that in mind, they created a marketing platform that specifically serves small business owners.

What Will the Mailchimp Marketing Platform Provide?

In addition to the email services Mailchimp already offers, the new platform will include the ability to:

  1. Acquire and manage audience data, utilizing the following features:
    1. Marketing CRM
    2. Audience dashboard
    3. Tags and segments
    4. Address finder
    5. Personalization
    6. Predicted demographics and lookalike audience finder
  2. Purchase domains and build sites, including the ability to create sign-up forms and landing pages
  3. Create Google retargeting ads or Facebook and Instagram ads
  4. Manage social media accounts
  5. Inform when to market to whom based on AI recommendations

It also will continue to integrate with other apps and tools — though not Shopify — so you can connect your data.

You can see a full list of the features here.

Having the ability to manage almost all aspects of your marketing from one platform is a big deal. Utilizing one tool not only saves you time and money but also can cut down on the headache so many marketers bear when needing to use multiple solutions to get their job done.

Now, if you currently use HubSpot or another marketing platform, I’m sure you’re thinking sounds great — but how much will the new platform cost?

How Much Will the Mailchimp Marketing Platform Cost?

Mailchimp has always been one of the more affordable services, with its “Forever Free” plan that is just that— free — for up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 monthly email sends.

This free plan will allow you to have certain platform features like landing pages, remarketing ads, and basic reporting.

Mailchimp’s “Grow” package, starting at just $10 per month, unlocks some additional features like lookalike audience finder, address finder, and predicted demographics.

However, if you want all of the platform’s features including premium support, advanced segmentation, and multivariate testing you will need to upgrade to Mailchimp Pro, which starts at $199 per month.

Regardless of the plan you choose, you will spend an additional $99 per year for a custom domain.

Now, it’s too soon to speak to the quality and functionality of the new features, but I’m sure we will see comparisons of Mailchimp vs. other marketing platforms here very soon.

Until then, let me know in IMPACT Elite if you plan to vet the marketing platform for your business!
